memory in MST

The Monolithic System Technology (MST) is a microelectronic circuit family. This technology was used in the exhibit „main memory card of IBM System/370 (1971) and is a replacement technology of SLT.

The smallest circuit building block is an integrated circuit chip, which includes up to five circuits. The encapsuled 0.5-inch square module includes one to four circuit chips. Transistors are mounted external of the MST module on the MST card. A maximum of 60 MST modules can be attached on a MST card along with seperate capacitors and resistors.

The transoition times are 2 – 5 ns, 30 ns and 100 ns for 1,25 volt and 0 volt to -3 volt.

The technology is designed to provide a balanced reflection of cost and performance requirements.
