This exhibit is a removable hard disk media with an iron oxide layer as a disk, which was mainly used together with a PDP-8 computer (the first commercially successful minicomputer in the 60s) on a RK8E board. It has a diameter of 14 inches and weighs 110 pounds.

The read and write heads lay down on the disk when the disk was turned off. In addition, a battery was installed so that this happens even if there is a power outage.
