Relay

The following exhibits represent vintage contact spring relays.
A relay is in the majority of cases a electromagnetic, remote operated trigger with usually two switch positions. The switch position will be activated by a control circuit. Thus additional coupled circuits get activated. In doing so an electric current triggers a magnetic field in a field coil. Furthermore a ferromagnetic loose armature is mounted on an as well ferromagnetic core. The armature triggers one or multiple contacts when it comes to an action of force on itself. By an elastic resilience of the spring the armature will be placed in starting position when the magnetic field breaks.

In this case we are dealing with an contact spring relay from 1935. It is used for the changeover switching of data paths. The relay coil is driven with a direct voltage of 110 volt.
