1958: standard modular system

The standard modular system

The standard modular system was a printed board assembly with integrated circuits. The SMS was originally developed by IBM in the late fifties for the “IBM 7030 Stretch”, but was also inserted in many other computers too. SMS was relieved by a newer construction design for micro electronic circuits, called the “Solid Logic Technology”.
