Z1 - the first programmable computer

The Z1 is the worldwide first freely programmable computer. This machine was build up from 1936 to 1938. The computer was exclusively financed by private funds. Furthermore he gets help from his family and friends. His parents provide him the living room for his work. In order to concentrate fully on their development, he gave up his job as a structural engineer for the Henschel Aircraft Company.
